authority cemetery has an area alloted for "natural burials".
A tree is planted for each plot in a nearby grove. This seemed an innovative
move when first introduced, and predated the first real natural cemetery
in the UK. Very small scale and not allowing trees, or regenerating bush.

Motueka - Tasman District Council has set aside 40 spaces
for natural burials at Motueka Cemetery. Small scale and not a regenerating

Kapiti, New Zealand - We are now open to offers
of land from individuals wihsing to sell or enter a partnership. District
Council formally decided in February 2008 to approve a natural cemetery,
following representations from Natural Burials and our local branch group.

decided in July 2007 to set up a natural cemetery, following representations
from Natural Burials and our local branch group. Site selection now underway.

undertook public consultation on the option in March 2007 following representations
